Took Ben from Coastal Crust Tackle out for a little research and development today. We caught limits of black rockfish out of Bandon, Oregon. The flutter jigs produced pretty well. More color schemes are in the works. A person could get use to this kind of research. :0)
Thank so much, Rod!
Caught a couple big mouth bass at Bradly Lake using a Coastal Crust Painted Round Head Steelhead Jig and a plastic spring grub. I’ll remember to keep the jig in and position the fish next time so ya’ll can see it — Ben
Ben, the owner of Coastal Crust Tackle, set out on a fishing trip to Bradley Lake, hoping to take advantage of the fall weather, which was cloudy with rain showers expected. After launching his boat, he began trolling across the lake, eager to see what the day would bring.
For the first three hours, Ben experimented with various lures, including a pink spoon with black dots, a chartreuse yellow spoon, and a white spinner with pink dots. Despite his efforts, he struggled to attract any bites. Determined, he continued switching lures, hoping to find something that would entice the fish.
Finally, he decided to test out a custom lure: the Painted Swing Blade Spinner with red marabou tail. This lure features an eye-catching orange body, a yellow-tipped blade, and a red marabou tail designed to mimic the movement of distressed baitfish.
After casting the Painted Swing Blade Spinner into the water, Ben began to troll once again. Almost immediately, he felt a significant tug on the line, indicating he had attracted a fish. With careful reeling, he successfully landed a beautiful trout. Just minutes later, he felt another strong tug and quickly reeled in a second fish, marking a triumphant moment in his day.
However, shortly after catching his second trout, the weather took a turn for the worse. Dark clouds rolled in, and rain began to fall heavily, prompting Ben to call it a day. Despite the sudden downpour, he felt satisfied with his successful outing, grateful for the beauty of the Oregon coast and the effectiveness of his custom lure.
Here’s a photo of our new Marabou Spinners — great for trout!
